Home of Hoover Dam
Boulder City was originally founded in 1931 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation as housing for workers who were building Hoover Dam across the Colorado River. Though there has been development since, there is still an old time feel to the city and its quaint downtown historic district: quiet and laid back with no gaming permitted.

In Depth:
Since the city is a small family oriented community with no large master planned neighborhoods, there are relatively few homes on the market at any given time. The city maintains strict controls on growth, limiting any new construction to 120 building permits per year, and hotels are also restricted to no more than 35 rooms. So it is important to be on top of the inventory here. Prices are generally quite a bit higher per square foot for housing in Boulder City than in Las Vegas or Henderson because of the lack of inventory.
Though small, there is wide variety of housing available, from custom home estates overlooking Lake Mead, to lake view condos to small housing developments around Boulder City’s two municipal golf courses.
Each year the city hosts a number of memorable events, including the Boulder City Art Show and a fabulous 4th of July fireworks display.
